WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?

GRETA GOES TO LEWES!

THE FIRST EVENT IN OUR SUMMER UPRISING!

Greta sailed to East Sussex County Council Headquarters on Tuesday to join the protest against ESCC’s refusal to divest its pension fund from fossil fuels investments. Although Brighton and Hove City Council employees contribute almost a third of the fund’s payments, BHCC has no say in where the money is invested. We were joined by Divest East Sussex, XR Lewes and XR Hastings.

COORDINATION CORE GROUP ELECTIONS

There’s a staggered change of role holders every six months in the Coordination core group and it’s now time for Kate and Neil to move on.

Nominally there are four core roles, Guide, Shepherd, Communications Lead and External Representative, but in practice we work together pretty flexibly.

We’ve been managing recently without a Guide. Cat has joined us as the new Shepherd. Kate has been “Extra Brain” or Member without Portfolio. It’s vital we find a replacement to fill the vast canyon left by her departure.

We’ll hold a Governance Meeting to elect to the vacancies at the time of the General Meeting on Tuesday 19th July.

If you’d like to know more about the roles contact @Catherine, @Katehow or @Neil_Hove via Telegram to arrange a chat or email xr_brighton@protonmail.com You may nominate yourself.

This is the untold story of Extinction Rebellion (XR). In April 2019, we followed the the co-founders Roger Hallam, Gail Bradbrook, Clare Farrell, Stuấrt Basdển as they set out to rally the largest civil disobedience of a generation, holding the centre of London for 10 days, forcing the government to meet and discuss their three demands to avert the climate crisis. With exclusive access to the EXTINCTION REBELLION (XR) movement, this fly on the wall documentary tells their story as it happened.
