WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?
OUTREACH DAY
Rebels took to the streets on Saturday March 19th to recruit people for the April 9th Rebellion.
The Climate Cycle made its second public appearance, travelling from The Level to New Road, where it joined fellow rebels outside the Unitarian Church.
Music by The Agitators and Buffos Wake drew the crowds. Inside the church, rebels gave talks on the climate crisis. There were also talks about the importance of soil as a solution to the climate crisis and an introduction to organic gardening.
We were also joined by the Lewes XR Read Rebels, who made a striking appearance among the weekend crowds on New Road
DIVESTMENT WEDDING AT EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
Divest East Sussex, in collaboration with XR Lewes, staged a mock wedding outside the HQ of ESCC on Tuesday.
The bride (ESCC) was in search of a partner to help her pay her pensions. Would it be Nasty Old Coal, Dirty Oil or Smelly Gas?
They all tried to woo her, but luckily The Fossil Fool was there to lead her to her new, clean suitors: Wind and Sun.

SIT FOR CLIMATE

#SitForClimate is a new movement for people to show their concern about the climate crisis by joining in a short, regular, inclusive action.
WHEN: Every Saturday, 11am, for 10 minutes. Starting 12th March.
WHAT: Sit anywhere you like and display the #SitforClimate message on a home-made sign or on your phone. Sit on your own or with others.

You'll learn about the history of Civil Disobedience, theories of Non-Violence, and NVDA skills, such as how to talk to the police, how to block a road, and how to use your support systems.

APRIL REBELLION
The next Rebellion starts at 10:00 Saturday 9 April in Hyde Park, London
We will gather the movement together in Rebellion using focused and ambitiously creative civil resistance and material disruption. Our strategy identifies multiple strands of activity that must be coordinated. The Extinction Rebellion has always been greater than the sum of its parts. This year those parts have a fundamental duty to collaborate, to act together.
What we do in our regions and nations will ultimately determine the success of our Rebellions; what we do here in the UK will act as a powerful accelerator for the rest of the world.
Think of all we have done so far as an experiment, XR paying its dues.
