XR ACTION BLOCKADES BP TERMINAL
BP’s Southampton oil terminal at Hamble was blockaded by Extinction Rebellion Activists on 1 June in protest at the continued greenwash from both the fossil fuel industry and the UK government.
Four protestors, including folk from Brighton XR, lay across the depot’s entrances locked onto oil barrels whilst other activists dressed as cleaning ladies and armed with scrubbing brushes, removed layers of green paint from the oil drums to reveal the following messages: Broken promises / Burning Planet and;Govt MER Strategy / Maximises Emissions.
James Hill, Extinction Rebellion South East spokesman, said: “The Government continues to announce paper targets to reduce emissions but it is still business as usual for fossil fuel companies. There is new exploration, new 20 year production licenses and new investment in fossil fuel infrastructure locking us into future greenhouse gas emissions at a time when the fossil fuel phase out should already be underway.”
XR All Roads Lead to G7 - Mass Banner Drop across the UK - Friday, 4th June 2021
XRB joined this action yesterday morning - 9 brave rebels turned out early on a very damp Friday to hang 4 Banners across the A23 & A27 highlighting Fossil Fuel harm and our focus on G7.

BRIGHTON CLIMATE EMERGENCY CENTRE (BCEC).
We are aiming to be a diverse group of people with the common goal of strengthening our community in the face of the Climate and Ecological Emergency. Together we are working on a very exciting project to set up a Climate Emergency Centre. We are hoping this centre will give us the opportunity, in Brighton and Hove, to bring the many organisations working in Brighton concerned with, and working in, all areas of sustainability, resilience and community cohesion, to share skills, resources, and to foster a sense of support for each other.
Introduction to CEC Network: Brighton!
Networking event by BCEC Brighton Climate Emergency Centre at 20.15 on Thursday June 10th, 2021.
Beacons of Hope
In order to highlight the ecological emergency during the G7 summit, beacons will be lit from Cornwall across the country to London. These will follow the path of the Armada beacons warning of the approach of the Spanish Armada. If you would like to get involved, join the G7 Beacons chat on Telegram.
10th and/or 11th of June.
The plan is to have a school strike in B&H to highlight the MAKE THE WAVE campaign. Do support your school strikers!

Brighton Arrest Support
Aims to ensure that all activists, whether spicy or not, are fully informed before deciding to join an action. We organise training and support during and after arrest including any subsequent court hearing. Sympathetic donors have contributed to a fund that can help with court costs. We are looking for more rebels to join us.
