Protect your freedom to protest!

Brighton, We need your support…

Following the legal charges being taken against our rebels, we still need ongoing support to help them! Rebels who took part in the XR protests in 2019 are now facing threats of £2.5k fines for protesters and 6 months jail time for organisers. These charges are being held against our protesters who took nonviolent direct action. After the protests in London 2019 the government has now taken drastic measures against our rebels and for rebels protesting in the future. We must act now as a community to help our XR members facing harsh unfair repercussions for a peaceful march. and stand together to help our future rights as protesters for positive change.

Better get on it before this comes into force! Fight for our right to protest. Read the following articles now, Priti Patel has been handed powers in protest crime crackdown.

You can find more details in these two articles at the Independent and the Daily Mail

Please donate anything you can, and share this page widely with your friends, family, and on social media.

Protect your Freedom to Protest!!

The government is planning to make important changes to the law that will restrict the right to protest when lockdown restrictions ease.

We oppose this new planned legislation, and instead demand that the National Police Chiefs Council adopts a new Charter for Freedom of Assembly Rights based on International Human Rights standards– or explain why they refuse to do so.

Support the campaign by signing and sharing the petition.

This week we stand together for international Women's day!

Here is how some rebels in Scotland are tributing to women across the globe

East Sussex County Council (ESCC) it’s time to get serious

We need YOUR* help to tell East Sussex County Council (ESCC) it’s time to get serious about fossil fuels and 1.5°C!

Despite declaring a 'climate emergency' on Oct 19, ESCC continues to act as though it has all the time in the world to address the crisis – even as the giant oil and gas companies in which it invests act in ways that are rapidly making limiting global warming to 1.5°C impossible. Please take 2 mins to email them our question by 4pm on Monday 15 March.

Rebellion of One: Action Briefings

Various dates in February and March—find out more here.

This action will be the first of XR UK’s rolling Rebellion Waves: rebellions held each month, increasing in pressure each time as we build up to COP26. In this unprecedented time, we must continue to act, and this is an action that can be taken during Covid.

Individuals across the UK will sit down in the road, alone. They will display a simple and emotive message. They will remain there until they choose to move, or are moved.

Find out more by joining a briefing – no commitment necessary.

The briefings will cover essential topics such as messaging, support team roles, strategic objectives and action design. They are open to all and a place to ask questions.

Training and events

Witnessing Police Behaviour Training

Saturday 13th March, 5:30-6:45pm

This training will teach you valuable skills, in witnessing arrests and police behaviour. It will empower you to take responsibility for the safety of other rebels around you at a protest, and particularly focuses on the greater risk faced by marginalised rebels.

This is NOT legal observer training, and witnessing arrests is not a role, but a skill.

This is a remote training hosted on zoom.

Roots of Regenerative Culture

Monday 15th March, 8-10am

How do we inject regeneration into everything we do?

If we can identify the patterns of regeneration in nature, can we apply those patterns to consciously create regenerative cultures within our lives, workplaces and communities?

The intention with this workshop is for participants to explore their own innate regenerative wisdom, to feel empowered to trust that and inspired to embody it, thereby modelling regenerative behaviour in life - as Gandhi said: to be the change we want to see in the world.

"The most important training available at the moment." - A recent participant

RISE CWUP is a Mnemonic which stands for Reasons, Impact, Support, Embed,

Concerns, Wellbeing, Uncertainty and Preparation.

Oppression, movement building and our relationships as activists

Wednesday 24th march, 7-10pm

We are members of XR looking at how movements can be divided when oppression goes unaddressed, offering practical tools to heal these divisions which affect our relationships as activists.

This workshop will address the importance of understanding the structural nature of oppressions (such as racism, sexism, classism, ableism, the oppression of young people, ...), as well as doing personal healing work – both of which are necessary if we are to work together effectively in a united movement.

Please arrive from 15 minutes before the start time for a prompt start.
