We are in an emergency and the government isn’t doing enough...

Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill (CEE Bill)

The Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill can change our course—making the government act with the urgency we need and involving everyday people in a Citizens’ Assembly that has real bite. If the CEE Bill is made law, the government would have to act fast, accounting for our entire carbon footprint while actively conserving nature here and overseas. We hope that this bill will set a precedent that can be replicated across the world.

The CEE Bill is a brand new initiative starting on its path as a grassroots campaign to build an alliance around this proposed law. It has been developed with members of XR alongside members of the successful Big Ask campaign that led to the Climate Change Act in 2008.

We need the support of as many MPs as possible so that the bill can move forward—so politicians need to step up. Call on your MP to back the CEE Bill!

Help needed with this newsletter

We need your help banner The XR Brighton newsletter team is a small but committed team who draft, edit and send out this newsletter every week, spreading the work of XR Brighton. We need two volunteers to help in the following areas:

  1. A volunteer to help to write our weekly Brighton newsletter. Time commitment is around two hours per week.

  2. A volunteer to help with publishing and sending out the newsletter. You will be well-organised and able to spare an hour or two each Friday (or Saturday sometimes). Some knowledge of HTML is useful.

Witnessing Police Behaviour Training

Saturday, 13th February, 5:30-6:45pm

This training will teach you valuable skills, in witnessing arrests and police behaviour. It will empower you to take responsibility for the safety of other rebels around you at a protest, and particularly focuses on the greater risk faced by marginalised rebels.

This is NOT legal observer training, and witnessing arrests is not a role, but a skill.
