A win for XR's Hungry for Action campaign

For 7 days, an Extinction Rebellion Brighton rebel stood outside the Brighton and Hove City Council building completing a hunger strike against their inaction in tackling the climate emergency which they had recognised two years ago.

At the end of the strike, XR Brighton Rebels presented a petition to Brighton & Hove City Council with 1,700 signatures, alongside a timeline of disasters since the declaration. Two rebels then presented the petition and our demands at the Council meeting.

The Green council responded saying that they would go further than the allocation of £5 million of February's budget towards tackling the Climate & Ecological Emergency that we asked for, allocating £20 million to carbon reduction measures.

However we want to see DEEDS NOT WORDS! We're looking forward to seeing the council #actnow in 2021.

Anti-Racism People's Assembly - Results

On December 1st 2020, Extinction Rebellion Brighon held a People's Assembly to kick start the conversation on how we can be actively anti-racist as a group, looking at the current issues and the next steps that we need to take to address them. The People's Assembly was attended by over 50 rebels and the Anti-Racism Working Group will start work moving forward in the New Year.

> If you'd like to join the working group please do so here.

> The results are in the graphic below, or see more information in your browser.
