Support Our Brave Rebels

Crowdfunding Launched

Since XR’s foundation, ordinary people have made extraordinary sacrifices for the sake of all our children and their children by taking part in actions, putting themselves at risk, and getting arrested. Read on at the following links for some of their amazing stories and ways that you can help.

Crowd Justice Fund for Brighton Rebels

On October 31st 2018, Extinction Rebellion declared an open rebellion against the British Government for its failure to inform and protect its citizens from the approaching climate and ecological catastrophe.

Since then, rebels from across Brighton, Hove, and the surrounding area have taken direct action because We Want to Live!

The money donated to this fund will help ease the burden of legal costs for our local arrestees, some of whom have shared their powerful stories below, and empower those making the decision now to act in the future.

Please donate anything you can, and share this page widely with your friends, family, and on social media.

Horse Hill Legal Crowdfunder

Eight rebels (including three from the Brighton area) are facing legal costs from having taken direct action at Horse Hill oil well over the last twelve months. If you’d like to support them by sharing these costs, please donate to this crowdfunder.

Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) Whole Estate Plan (WEP) Consultation: *more dates added*

Let’s have mass XR Brighton input into BHCC’s Whole Estate Plan! This is an opportunity not to be missed, and spaces are going quickly! It’s great that the new Green Council administration is asking—now we need to tell them what’s important. This unique ‘green belt’ owned by us is HUGE – over 12,000 acres. It is essential that climate and biodiversity action is at the core of that plan – carbon drawdown in particular. Don’t miss this chance to join the consultation sessions and speak up for the climate and biosphere.

These are some of the things you can do to get involved and also some places where you can find more information:
> About the Whole Estate Plan
> Key points to raise
> Book to attend a consultation session.
If they are full, ask for another session to be added and show your interest!

Mock COP26: Final Few Days

COP26 was due to be hosted in Glasgow this November but has been postponed due to COVID-19. Even through the pandemic, climate action must be a priority. That's why young people from all over the world have adjourned to hold their own Mock COP26 to show the world how to behave in a crisis. #ForTheYouthByTheYouth

At Mock COP26 the stage for leaders when they attend COP26 in November 2021 will be set. The conference will culminate in a global statement and vision by the youth of the world which would serve to raise ambition for COP26. Following Mock COP, our delegates will be supported by project staff to engage their own political delegates in the outcomes of Mock COP over the year to COP26.
