Oil Protests

This week, the Prime Minister, speaking to the Conservative Party Conference, announced "build back greener", a pledge to make the coronavirus pandemic a catalyst for green growth. Yet the government continues to allow the expansion of fossil fuel development.

On Monday XR South East rebels were up at the crack of dawn and successfully 'slow-walked' tankers for roughly 90 minutes whilst on route to the UK Oil & Gas PLC oil production site at Horse Hill.

This is an ongoing protest against the continued expansion of the fossil fuel infrastructure at Horse Hill allowed by both the UK Government and Surrey County Council (SCC).

Council update: Residents are invited to join the climate change conversation

Brighton & Hove City Council declared a climate and biodiversity emergency in 2018 and pledged to become a carbon neutral city by 2030.

Following the first meeting of Brighton & Hove’s climate assembly, the council is inviting residents, visitors to the city, and people who work in Brighton & Hove to be part of the climate conversation.

DIGITAL ACTION

Climate at risk from planning changes

The government is proposing a major revision to our planning regulations which will be terrible news for the climate and our environment.

Why? If unopposed, the changes will increase house building while making virtually no provision to make these new homes carbon neutral before criminally-late 2050.

What can you do? Respond to the consultation before 29 October. Make your voice heard. This plan has no place in a climate and ecological emergency.

Join with other local rebels to explore how we can respond to this awful proposal. Email us to get involved.
