Stop Gatwick Expansion

The Red Rebels gathered at Gatwick airport to highlight plans to double the runways, increase passenger numbers to 80 million and increase the number of flights to 100,000 per year. This would result in the emission of over 1 million tonnes of carbon.

The Planning Inspectorate are sitting for 6 months to hear submissions from local towns, local people, public transport, climate campaigners, ecologists and air pollution experts.

The Climate hearing will be held on 30th April, hearings about the compulsory purchase orders on 1st May, and other climate related objections on 2nd May. The Planning Inspectorate will make their final decision in late August or early September. Let's hope they make the right decision!
