Brighton Rebels Put the Brakes on Horse Hill Oil Well

Rebels from Brighton affinity groups joined with Surrey rebels to mount a protest against oil exploration in the Weald. In a symbolic protest, twenty rebels walked very slowly in front of an oil tanker heading to pick up oil from the oil well at Horse Hill, just north of Gatwick. Rebels safely intercepted the tanker and walked it around a mile and a half to the gates of the drilling site. When the tanker left the site they escorted it back to the junction on foot.
Police were called but there were no arrests. UKOG, the company operating the Horse Hill site, have big plans to expand their operation with "back to back" wells across the Surrey countryside.
We say no.
