XR Meditation Online Vigil in Solidarity with Colombian activists
Please note, this action will be happening online. More information will be posted nearer the time.
Colombia is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, however, its ecosystems are endangered by mining, fracking, palm oil, and other extractivist activities. Indigenous communities and activists are fighting to protect the country’s biodiversity, but they are facing death while doing it: NBC news recently called Colombia the deadliest place on earth for activists, “more than 40 human rights defenders and community leaders killed since January this year according to Indepaz.”
Brighton XR Meditators are hosting a vigil in partnership with XR Bogota, to demonstrate our support for Colombian environmental activists. We will gather at the same time in Brighton (New Road) and Bogota on 25th April 5pm BST to sit in silent meditation, mourn, read out the names of lost activists and show solidarity for their threatened ecosystems.
The crisis we are facing is global and we stand together with our fellow rebels across the world. For more information please contact email@example.com
