People’s Assembly on Theory of Change

15th Feb 2020 09:30 - 14:00

Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, BN1 1YD

We invite you to this exciting forum to support all voices to be heard in discussing how we change the world!! A Peoples Assembly is a way for lots of people to discuss an issue that ensures everyone can take part. It will be facilitated with discussions in small groups to help all to feel confident to speak. The central team of Extinction Rebellion, The Strategy & Stewardship Team, have asked local groups across the UK to feedback our thoughts about how Extinction Rebellion should be working. With over 60 People’s Assemblies planned across the country in February– making this the biggest attempt to try to understand people’s views about how the Extinction Rebellion moves forward! Theory of Change is about how we think change can happen. There are three kinds, or theories and we will discuss each one: 1. Non Violent Direct Action - civil disobedience and disruption focusing on shifting government policy and big business activity 2. Influencer focussed - persuading those with power and influence in business, government and the media to spread our message and take action 3. Personal Transformation – how we relate, include and inspire our communities and start to build the world we want to live in. Whether you are new to Extinction Rebellion or a seasoned activist we warmly invite you to come along and have some interesting conversations! The day will be facilitated by Anna & Hannah, there will be more input and information about these theories and plenty of time to deliberate in small groups.

We hope to see you there!
