The Whitehawk Inn Whitehawk Road Brighton BN2 5NS

A free workshop run by Brighton Extinction Rebellion Regenerative Culture.

Introduction to Imaginal Ecology: Using embodiment and narrative to heal the splits between nature and psyche.

An experiential workshop that focuses on the exile, return and grounding of the wild psyche, using embodied mythic imagination.

We live in a culture of delusion. Our ecological life support systems face an existential threat. Homo Sapiens is a part of this ecological reality. Yet its dominant culture thinks, and acts as if it isn’t. The consequences of this “story of separation” are a profound, multi level alienation for individuals, and the destruction and retreat of the more-than-human world.

Imaginal Ecology offers a perspective that addresses separation at it’s source. At this source, nature and psyche are one. The body meets the world in sensual imagination. Imaginal Ecology acts from a poetic basis of mind, on the understanding that the world itself is a poetic ecology of interconnected beings. Language, story, voice, movement, mythic imagination, relationship all have ecological origins.

This experiential workshop in Imaginal Ecology extends an invitation to explore embodiment and mythic imagination. In a safe space, participants will explore their relationship with the deep patterns held in embodiment and narrative.

Using the myth of Dionysos, the old green god of the indestructible life force, and Ariadne, the goddess of pathways through tangled labyrinths as a guides, the workshop investigates themes of the exile and return of the wild and the need for it’s grounding in service to the Earth.
