About this Event
The scientific community is in consensus that we are in the midst of a climate and ecological crisis.
Backed by rigorous research, they warn us that we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown. This is an unprecedented global emergency. Our children and our nation, in fact all nations, face grave risk.
Weather events that would once have been considered extreme are becoming the new norm. On top of that, the planet is experiencing the sixth mass extinction event in its history. Except this time, we are causing it. But that means that we can prevent it.
In this public talk, Extinction Rebellion Brighton will share the latest climate and ecological science, lay bare the consequences of ignoring it, and then offer a possible way forward through the study of previous social movements.
Our speakers for the evening are:
Felicity - Anaesthetic Registrar and Brighton mother of an incredible baby boy.
And Harriet - Theatres Nurse and NHS Sustainability in Healthcare Ambassador, who is also the co-founder of Harriet's of Hove, the only plastic free supermarket in Hove.
We will aim to keep the talk to about an hour to allow time for a group activity and a kinetic session afterwards. There will also be an opportunity to speak to existing Extinction Rebellion members about how you can get involved.
Everyone is welcome and entry is free, but we would appreciate donations on the day towards venue hire costs.
